Learn To Fish Day 2007

June 9, 2007 started out with some ominous clouds in the southwest, but the weather held off and the turnout was as large as any LTF Day I have seen. Salties arrived early at West Dennis Beach to set up the tent and displays. The crowds arrived soon after. Much of the credit for the big turnout goes to Ed Wagner who contacted the newspapers and radio stations. (I understand Ed is now featured on a 2 min spot every Mon AM on 91.9FM "Cool 92"!) I won't try to list all the Salties who participated to the success of this event. You know who was there. Thank You!

The live fish tank was a big draw as usual. Vinnie Foti raffled off some fishing rods and other tackle to a crowd of hopeful kids. In the end I think everyone won something.

Joe O'Clair shows off a newly tied saltwater fly to an admiring onlooker. (You can view and purchase his wares at www.flycatcherflies.com) The parking lot was full of Salties and attendees.

The bottom line: learning to cast and catch a fish. The beach was popular for individual lessons in conventional, spin and flycasting. There was a ton of weeds and eelgrass in the surf but that was a small drawback to the eager students.
