Salties Nantucket Rip Trip

Salties on the Sept 10, 2006 trip were: Ed Wagner, Bill Dulude, Bill Brogan, Ken Whiting, Steve Unsworth and Dick Nicholson. We fished two at a time jigging either flyrods or wireline. After we learned the correct technique the results were very good.

Thanks to Ed Wagner for organizing a great trip, doughnuts and all! Capt. Bob Luce and his boat "STRIPER" out of Saquatucket Harbor took us right on the rips holding bass and was a hoot to talk to. We better bring coolers next time! We will need to book several boats if word of this trip gets around the club.

The large fish I kept was weighed in at The Hookup by Bill Hubbard at 21# - 10oz. and 39.5" and entered in the On The Water contest under the Salties name. Ed's fish was fatter and also entered he said. I think we bagged 13 keepers from 34-40" and 4 bluefish. Not bad for a six hour trip with just 2 guys fishing at any time.

PS re: Striper Dinner: Thanks to all who donated a filet or two. Sandy & I vacuum-bagged up and froze enough striper steaks for at least 30 Salties and I informed Lou Mackiel. Now, we'll have to see about invitations for Bob and his mate (Bill?) to the Striper Dinner. He would be a welcome guest and I'd be happy to chip in for the tickets if the club won't spring.
