Cape Cod Salties Sportfishing Club
President's Report
It has been nearly a year since I became your president and the
bylaws require me to make an annual report. My first order of
business is to thank Joe Weinrich who worked very hard to ensure
a smooth transition when he resigned the presidency due to
moving to Florida. My thanks go also to the other officers,
board members, committee chairpersons and to the members who
helped me so much during this past year.
During this time, the club took on some new public activities
such as the Children's Fishing Derby as part of River Day in
Marstons Mills and participation in the Wellfleet Oyster
Festival. The club also continued the successful February
Fly-Tying Seminars. The Annual Awards Dinner took on a new
dimension with fundraising activities as a part of this event.
The purpose of this organization is to promote sportfishing. It
is my belief that education, information and outreach to the
public and to members are important aspects of this mission. The
new ventures, as well as the tried and true activities of the
club, are important to its success. Your support and
participation in the club are essential. We can better fulfill
our mission from a position of strength in spirit, numbers and
finances.
For the future it is my hope that the club will continue to grow
and to prosper, allowing each member to further enjoy the sport
of fishing as well as increasing public awareness of the club
and of sportfishing here on the Cape. In order to do this,
additional public activities such as the collaboration with the
Bourne Society for Historical Preservation in May will be
undertaken. A concerted effort needs to be made by each Salty to
publicize the club, inform people of its activities and to
recruit new members. During this year it is my hope that paid
membership will grow by at least 10% and that our operating
budget will increase by at least 40% over calendar 2002. This
growth is important to better serve our members. Above all, I
want the members of this club to FISH and to further their
enjoyment of the sport.
Yours truly,
Bill Cottle, President,
Early 2003 |
